Bottom Line

The Razer Blade RZ09-01953E71-R3U1 is a small gaming laptop that is packed with great hardware, however, the 256GB SSD is too small for users with larger Origin or Steam collections.

The Razer Blade RZ09-01953E71-R3U1 is a bestselling gaming laptop that has been praised for its CNC milled aluminum shell, snappy 7th generation Intel Core i7 processor, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 and for its travel friendly size. However, this model only features a 256GB SSD which will fill up extremely quickly if you intend on installing some of the latest gaming titles. While the Razer Blade features a thin and compact design, this does come with the drawback of heat buildup. To keep the components cool, the fans will spin most of the time, which might annoy some users.

Just like every other laptop maker, Razer is making the move to Intel’s 7th-gen with a Core i7-7700HQ, 16GB of RAM, and a GTX 1060 with 6GB of GDDR5. All that power doesn’t come cheap, and even our base model review unit with a 256GB PCIe SSD starts at almost $1,900.

The 2017 Razer Blade is stronger and longer lasting than last year’s, making that steep price tag all that much easier to justify. But, as the Blade begins to out-pro the MacBook Pro much less comparable gaming laptops, we'd like to see more original features come to this model.
