Bottom Line

The Razer Blade Pro RZ09-01663E53-R3U1 is an ultra-powerful gaming laptop for the hardcore gamer on the go. However, its huge price tag puts it out of reach for many gamers and its battery life is rather poor for gaming on the go.

The Razer Blade Pro RZ09-01663E53-R3U1 is a bestselling premium gaming laptop that has been praised for powerful NVIDIA graphics, 4K touchscreen display, THX certification, ample storage space and for is powerful Kaby Lake-based processor. While its predecessor offered a widely used sixth generation processor, Razer have stepped up their game and have gone for a far more powerful Kaby Lake processor. This powerful laptop in not without its fault, however. For example, you only get one USB 3.1 Type-C port, it has a huge price tag and the battery life is quite poor. Regardless of these issues, this laptop is a great buy for the serious gamer or video or photo editor.

Consider Razer’s slim gaming laptop range, where the 14-inch Blade sits square in the middle of the line. It’s bracketed by the smaller 12.5-inch Stealth below it, which relies on integrated Intel graphics instead of a dedicated graphics card, and the massive 17.3-inch Blade Pro, which theoretically offers even more power at a larger size But like many of Razer’s decisions around the Blade, its middle-of-the-road stance tends to make it just right for most people.

The 2017 Razer Blade is stronger and longer lasting than last year’s, making that steep price tag all that much easier to justify. But, as the Blade begins to out-pro the MacBook Pro much less comparable gaming laptops, we'd like to see more original features come to this model.

The Razer Blade combines great performance with good mobility and a healthy dose of design. The result is an appealing notebook which weighs in at less than 2 kg and measures less than 20 mm thick. The price is not for the faint of the heart, however.

With a slick, matte-black look and all the bells and whistles you’d expect from the well-known peripheral manufacturer, it’s certainly a sight to behold, and our reviews of previous versions have been generally favorable, apart from a few issues.

The Blade is Razer’s attempt to create the ultimate laptop; one that’s small and light, but powerful enough to play games at 1080p as well as edit video. With top-end specs including a Core i7 CPU and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 GPU, it’s also VR ready too.
