The Huawei MateBook W19 is a 2016 12-inch tablet praised for its super slim and lightweight design, solid performance and, competitive pricing against similar products. Users loved the vibrant QHD screen, and the tablet has very narrow bezels giving it a clean look. Huawei’s Portfolio keyboard, unfortunately, comes separate, at an extra cost, and while the MateBook is cheaper than competitors like the Galaxy Pro S and Surface Pro, it comes with a trade-off for battery life and some features. All the same, the Huawei Matebook W19 comes highly recommended; its gorgeous premium design, features, and compelling price should be major considerations for anyone in the Hybrid Tablet market.
Pros
- Very attractive
- Good performance
- Cheaper than competition
- Vibrant QHD screen
- Extremely thin and light
- Sturdy
Cons
- Average battery life
- Keyboard comes at an extra cost
- Lack of ports
Bottom Line
Though the Huawei Matebook’s battery life could be better, its super portable design, vibrant screen, and solid performance make it a great Windows tablet for personal and office tasks.

If you like what the Matebook offers, pick the slightly pricier Samsung Galaxy TabPro S instead. The TabPro S has an even better screen, better battery life and throws the keyboard in for free.

The MateBook is Huawei’s first attempt at a Windows-powered laptop replacement, taking on the likes of the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 and Samsung Galaxy TabPro S. With a 2-in-1 design that includes a detachable keyboard and a stylus for drawing and making notes, this should be a great-value, versatile machine.

With the MateBook, a hybrid tablet that marks the company's first stab at a full-fledged computer, Huawei is hoping to change that. But while it certainly looks nice, the MateBook's keyboard cover ultimately dooms it as something I can't recommend.
