Bottom Line

The numerous complaints from customers who received dodgy, used Macbooks as opposed to refurbished ones is slightly worrying, but it is great to see that the 2012 Apple MacBook Pro MD101LL/A is still as popular as it once was.

The MacBook Pro MD101LL/A is a 2012 Macbook which has received positive reviews for the fact that it has stood the test of time, providing a reliable experience even today. It has a solid build quality, long battery life, a commendable overall performance, and a great keyboard with excellent feedback. The trackpad is also large and responsive to the touch, and it supports a wide array of gestures. However, it does come with a slow mechanical hard drive, which will make your system feel sluggish. The 4GB of RAM is sufficient for light use, but 8GB of RAM would be the ideal starting point for heavier users. Furthermore, some customers found that their Macbooks had in fact not been refurbished, but instead they received used laptops that were full of dents and scratches, with some still having the previous owners’ accounts still on the laptopl. Furthermore, for the price, the screen’s resolution is fairly low at 1280 x 800. If your reseller sends you an acceptable refurbished Macbook, then you can trust that you will get the trusted performance from your system that Apple fans have come to love over the years.

Until that day comes, you should either trade up to the 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display or buy a MacBook Air and save your wistful Retina dreams for a $499 iPad on the side.

Creative professionals and gaming enthusiasts might be better off with the bigger screen and better graphical capabilities of the 15-inch MacBook Pros, but the 13-inch notebooks are ideal for some users.
