The Aspire impresses in most aspects: It has plenty of computing and gaming performance while managing long battery runtimes. The screen and input devices are also compelling. Shortcomings are found in the laptop's maintenance and upgrade options.

The Acer Aspire V15 Nitro Black Edition combines elegant looks with solid gaming gaming performance, but you'll sacrifice some battery life.

The Acer Aspire V Nitro Black Edition VN7-791G is, according to Acer's own blurb, the apex of the Aspire V Nitro line. What that means in reality is it’s a premium, large but slim, 17in laptop that can serve both as a modest gaming machine and a workstation, much like Apple’s 17in MacBook Pro line used to be.
