You could call it the worst kept secret in the world of gaming, but regardless, Just Cause 4 has been confirmed, thanks in part to a couple of leaks by major retailers. Still, most assume that the official announcement will be coming at E3, but with mistakes by both Walmart and Steam, it’s pretty much certain that we will be seeing a Just Cause 4 in the near future.
About a month ago, a mistake on the Walmart Canada website spoiled the surprise for many companies this year at E3. Among the titles prematurely announced by Walmart, Just Cause 4 was one of them. While the post was removed rather quickly, they didn’t pull it before multiple people had a chance to see it and some even saved shots of the listings.

But, the latest, and perhaps most prominent leak, came from Steam. The gaming retailer published a pre-order ad that was served to several website visitors. Currently, no one else has seen the ad, so it’s possible that Steam has already removed the ad from the site. While the ad was visible, pre-orders weren’t available yet. If you clicked on the ad, it took you to the Steam front page, and there is no official listing for the game just yet.
The Just Cause series has long been a hit among gamers, with Just Cause 3 coming out to mixed reviews in 2015. That means that the timing is right if Square Enix plans on continuing with the series. Still, Just Cause 3 failed to live up to the hype of its predecessors, but still remains a popular game among many gamers.
It’s important to also note, that so far we have nothing official from anyone. There has been no official announcement, no trailer, no confirmation of any kind. That means that it could be quite some time before we actually see Just Cause 4 hit stores and download queues. How much time? It’s tough to tell, but I would guess at least another year, if not more. Who knows, I could be wrong. I just don’t want to get your hopes up.
Hopefully, we will see a lot more about this game at E3 next week, as video game makers gear up for their large announcements. I think it is a safe bet we will learn more about it next week. With two companies leaking listings for the game, it would be hard to believe now that a new Just Cause 4 isn’t in the pipeline for a future release with an announcement set for E3.
What do you think about this revelation? Will you be looking forward to Just Cause 4 or were the first three enough for you? Personally, I’ve played the first three and found them all to be a very enjoyable and fun ride, but not everyone will agree with me, I’m sure. So, sound off in the comments below and tell me what you think about the leaks and about the possibility of a Just Cause 4 coming to Xbox, PlayStation, and Windows PCs everywhere.
