Best 14-inch Razer Blade Laptops

Razer Blade RZ09-01953E72-R3U1 14-inch

Razer Blade RZ09-01953E72-R3U1 14-inch
The Razer Blade has been CNC milled out of high-grade aluminum to offer you a thin and light laptop that has been filled with some great gaming hardware. Razer have done away with the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M from their last generation Razer Blade and have gone for the newer and more powerful NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 laptop edition GPU. The newer GTX 1060 is based off of NVIDIA’s Pascal architecture and with 6GB of GDDR5, it offers far better graphics performance than the older GTX 970M. While VR gaming is still in a development phase for most of us, the GTX 1060 has been designed to perform far better than the GTX 900-series cards, giving it an advantage for future gaming experiences. However, if you really want to push the performance, then you can connect the Razer Core external GPU enclosure via the superfast USB 3.1 Type-C port. However the Razer Core and a faster desktop grade GPU will push up the price dramatically. Being a premium gaming laptop, it features the latest 7th generation Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor, which will make light work of most games or intensive apps. The newer i7-7700HQ boasts a performance increase of 9% over its predecessor, giving it the edge when it comes to more demanding applications. Backing up the Core i7-7700HQ processor is 16GB of DDR4 2133MHz RAM, which combined will allow for lag free gaming or intensive multitasking. While all this hardware is quite powerful, the thin design means that it can heat up quickly, causing the fans to run most of the time. This might put off some users who are looking for a quieter machine for everyday use. While there is a 1TB version of the Razer Blade, the Razer Blade RZ09-01953E72-R3U1 features a decently sized 512GB SSD, which helps bring down the cost by a few hundred dollars. This will give you enough space to install some of your favorite AAA gaming titles, however some recent titles require over 50GB and will fill up your SSD quite quickly. Like the previous range, you get Razer Chroma which is Razer’s individually lit backlit keyboard. This will allow you to set three different color zones so that you can truly customize your Razer Blade. The brilliant 14-inch 1920 x 1080 pixel multi-touch display offers rich colors, wide viewing angles and is great for gaming or for media editing on the go. However, the display is a bit small for hardcore gamers, we recommend connecting the Razer Blade RZ09-01953E72-R3U1 to a decent size monitor for the best gaming experience.

Pros

  • Kaby Lake i7 processor
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060
  • Thin and light
  • USB Type-C
  • 512GB M.2 SSD

Razer Blade RZ09-01953E71-R3U1 14-inch

Razer Blade RZ09-01953E71-R3U1 14-inch
Razer have been creating top of the range gaming peripherals for a number of years now, and their range of gaming laptops share the company’s gaming pedigree. The new Razer Blade RZ09-01953E71-R3U1 has been updated and now sports a more powerful Kaby Lake processor which will allow you to run any current game on the market. The Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor boasts a performance increase of 9% over the last generation i7-6700HQ which will come in handy while working in more intensive applications. You also get 16GB of DDR4 2133MHz RAM which will allow you to easily run most applications and is more than enough memory for any current gaming title. You can look at upgrading to a higher frequency RAM kit, however this is not necessary for most users who will do just fine with the installed RAM modules. Keeping to its gaming pedigree, the Razer Blade RZ09-01953E71-R3U1 features the NVIDIA GTX 1060 laptop edition GPU with 6GB of dedicated GDDR5 video memory. This graphics card will easily run the latest gaming titles on ultra or high settings while still offering you decent frame rates. Titles such as Battlefield 1, GTA V and Titanfall 2 will run great on this machine, however the smaller M.2 SSD will mean that you will have to be selective about what games you can install on this laptop. With just 256GB of storage space, this superfast SSD will fill up almost instantly with games that are 50GB or larger. You can purchase a larger M.2 SSD for a fraction of the price of the larger models from Razer, however make sure that you have the know how before you undertake this upgrade yourself. While the Razer Blade is a small and compact gaming laptop it does come with a bit of a drawback, the thinner size means that it will heat up quicker while gaming or while using slightly more intensive applications. This in turn will kick the two fans into gear which might annoy some users who are looking for a quieter setup. Another drawback of the smaller form factor is the fact that the 14-inch display is not great for gaming, we recommend connecting the Razer Blade RZ09-01953E71-R3U1 to a monitor for a superior gaming experience.

Pros

  • Kaby Lake i7 processor
  • Thin and light
  • CNC milled aluminum
  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060
  • USB Type-C

Cons

  • Heats up under load
  • Smaller SSD
  • Fans run most of the time
  • No Ethernet or optical drive
  • Expensive

Specs

  • 14 inch, 1920 x 1080 pixels (IPS)
  • Windows 10 Home
  • 4.75 hours battery life
  • 4.10 lbs

Summary & Score

The Razer Blade RZ09-01953E71-R3U1 is a small gaming laptop that is packed with great hardware, however, the 256GB SSD is too small for users with larger Origin or Steam collections.

Razer Blade QHD+ RZ09-01952E73-R3U1 14-inch laptop
Razer have always prided themselves in offering great gaming hardware and gaming peripherals. Aesthetically nothing has changed, and you get the same great thin and light aluminum build as the rest of the Razer Blade range. But internally Razer has made some changes that greatly increase its performance. They have ditched the GeForce GTX 970M in favor of the new NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 laptop edition with 6GB of GDDR5 video RAM. The GTX 1060 is based off of the new Pascal architecture and offers far better graphics performance than the GTX 970M. While VR gaming is still in its infancy, the GTX 1060 has been designed to perform far better than the GTX 900-series cards giving it an advantage for future gaming experiences. So you shouldn’t have any issues when it comes to running your favorite games on higher settings. But if you really want to push the performance, then you can connect the Razer Core external GPU enclosure via the superfast USB 3.1 Type-C port. Being a premium gaming laptop, it features a 6th generation Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor and 16GB of DDR4 2133MHz RAM, which combined will allow for lag free gaming and great performance when it comes to design apps. While the largest storage drive up until now was the 512GB edition, Razer has stepped up with the Razer Blade QHD+ RZ09-01952E73-R3U1. It features a large 1TB M.2 solid state drive for superfast speeds and for ample storage space. Like the current range, you get Razer Chroma which is Razer’s new individually lit backlit keyboard. The brilliant 14 inch 3200 x 1800 multi-touch display offers rich colors, wide viewing angles and is great for gaming or for media editing on the go. The 14-inch size format is perfect for those who are constantly on the go, as it slips easily into most backpacks and plane carry-ons.

Best Razer Blade Stealth Laptops

Razer Blade Stealth RZ09-01963E32-R3U1 13.3-inch

Razer Blade Stealth RZ09-01963E32-R3U1 13.3-inch
Razer has done a bit of a refresh on their Stealth line of laptops and has released a 13.3-inch version of their elegant Ultrabook. The new Razer Blade Stealth RZ09-01963E32-R3U1 features the same great airplane grade aluminum body and individually lit Chroma keyboard with over 16.8 million color options. The new QHD display offers 100% sRGB coverage and an excellent resolution of 3200 x 1800 pixels. This makes the Razer Blade Stealth RZ09-01963E32-R3U1 extremely attractive for designers on the go and photo or video editors who require a display that offers the correct colors. Not only that, but the new display offers a 50% thinner bezel than previous Stealth laptops and this makes it great to look at while watching your favorite shows and movies. While the new larger Stealth still comes with the same integrated Intel HD Graphics 620 GPU as its 12.5-inch counterpart, it will run a good amount of games on low to medium settings. These include some of the best eSports titles currently on the market. If you want those next level graphics, then you will have to shell out a few hundred dollars for Razer’s Core external GPU case. This will allow you to use a desktop grade GPU for vastly improved gaming. However, in what seems to be a bit of a design oversight, Razer has only fitted the Razer Blade Stealth RZ09-01963E32-R3U1 with a single USB Type-C port that handles both charging and the link to the external GPU. Despite the integrated graphics, the Razer Blade Stealth RZ09-01963E32-R3U1 is a fairly powerful laptop thanks to a seventh generation Intel Core i7-7500U CPU, 16GB of DDR3L RAM and a 512GB SSD.

Pros

  • Larger display
  • 100% sRGB
  • Thin and light
  • Great battery life

Cons

  • Integrated graphics
  • USB Type-C handles charging and data
  • Limited ports

Specs

  • 13.3 inch, 3200 x 1800 pixels (TN)
  • Windows 10 Home
  • 9 hours battery life
  • 2.4 lbs

Summary & Score

The Razer Blade Stealth RZ09-01963E32-R3U1 is an improved 13.3-inch version with powerful hardware and a brilliant display. However, the lack of a dedicated GPU means that it is not designed for heavy gaming use.

Razer Blade Stealth 4K RZ09-01962E53-R3U1 12.5-inch

Razer Blade Stealth 4K RZ09-01962E53-R3U1 12.5-inch laptop
Only a few months have passed since Razer released the first Stealth laptop, but they already have a new Stealth lined up. Sporting the new 7th generation Kaby Lake Intel i7-7500U processor and 16GB of LPDDR3 RAM, the Stealth has more than enough power to deal with day-to-day tasks and can run a host of apps without stuttering. Both the Skylake and Kaby Lake processors support DDR4 RAM, but it seems that the motherboard used in the Stealth does not support DDR4 RAM, which is quite odd. Razer Stealth 4K RZ09-01962E53-R3U1 features Intel’s latest HD Graphics 620 graphics, which will allow you to play a host of older AAA gaming titles on higher settings. But it is underpowered for newer titles such as Battlefield 1, For Honor and COD: Infinity Warfare, which will struggle with frame rates. But Razer has a solution, while developing the original Blade Stealth ultrabook, the designers created the Razer Core, an external GPU or more commonly known as a graphics amplifier. Connecting via super fast Thunderbolt 3 (USB Type-C) the Razer Core allows users to run any AMD or NVIDIA desktop card and brings a rich gaming experience to the Stealth ultrabook. We recommend either the new NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070, GTX 1080 or the AMD Radeon RX 480. But this makes the gaming experience less mobile due to the size of the Razer Core and a design oversight means that the Stealth cannot be charged while connected to the Core, as the USB Type-C serves as both the charging port and as a data transfer port. The 4K display offers wide viewing angles and with 100% sRGB color gamut it is perfect for designers on the go. The superfast solid state drive allows Windows to boot in seconds and games to load much faster than traditional hard drive. With 1TB of storage, you will have ample storage space for all of your games and multimedia files.

Pros

  • Superfast SSD
  • Intel Kaby Lake processor
  • Ample storage space
  • 16GB of RAM
  • 4K IPS display

Cons

  • Integrated graphics
  • DDR3L RAM
  • USB Type-C handles both charging and data transfers
  • 12.5-inch display
  • No Ethernet
  • No optical drive

Specs

  • 12.5 inch, 3840 x 2160 pixels (IPS)
  • Windows 10 Home
  • 7 hours battery life
  • 2.8 lbs

Summary & Score

The Razer Blade Stealth 4K RZ09-01962E53-R3U1 is an improved version of the original Stealth and now sports double the RAM and the latest Kaby Lake processor. But without the Razer Core, you will have to make do with the Intel HD Graphic 620 integrated graphics card.

Razer Blade Stealth RZ09-01962E20-R3U1 12.5-inch

Razer Blade Stealth RZ09-01962E20-R3U1 12.5-inch
While all of Razer’s Stealth laptops have featured Intel i7 processors, this version now sports an Intel i5 processor to bring down the costs and to make the Stealth slightly more affordable. It sports a seventh generation Kaby Lake Intel i5-7200U processor and 8GB of LPDDR3 RAM, which gives the Razer Blade Stealth RZ09-01962E20-R3U1 enough power for all of your day-to-day tasks. Both the Skylake and Kaby Lake processors support DDR4 RAM, however it seems that the motherboard used in the Stealth does not support DDR4 RAM, which does come in handy as the low-voltage RAM does help to extend the battery life. Featuring Intel’s latest HD Graphics 620 graphics, the Razer Blade Stealth RZ09-01962E20-R3U1 will allow you to play a host of older AAA gaming titles on higher settings. However it is underpowered for newer titles such as Battlefield 1, For Honor and COD: Infinity Warfare. However Razer has a solution on hand, while developing the original Blade Stealth ultrabook, the designers created the Razer Core, an external GPU or more commonly known as a graphics amplifier. Connecting via super fast Thunderbolt 3 (USB Type-C), the Razer Core allows users to run any AMD or NVIDIA desktop card and brings a rich gaming experience to the Stealth ultrabook. We recommend either the new NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti, GTX 1060 or the AMD Radeon RX 470. But this makes the gaming experience less mobile due to the size of the Razer Core and a design oversight means that the Stealth cannot be charged while connected to the Core, as the USB Type-C serves as both the charging port and as a data transfer port. The biggest weakness of the Razer Blade Stealth RZ09-01962E20-R3U1 is the fact that it has a tiny SSD. With only 128GB of storage space, you will either have to look at swapping out the SSD for a larger one or using an external hard drive to store your games and media.

Pros

  • Superfast SSD
  • Intel Kaby Lake processor
  • QHD display
  • Price

Cons

  • Tiny SSD
  • USB Type-C handles both charging and data transfers
  • Integrated graphics
  • No Ethernet or optical drive
  • 12.5-inch display

Specs

  • 12.5 inch, 2560 x 1440 pixels (IPS)
  • Windows 10 Home

  • 2.84 lbs

Summary & Score

The Razer Blade Stealth RZ09-01962E20-R3U1 is an affordable Razer Stealth laptop that now sports the latest Kaby Lake Intel i5 processor. However the lower price does have one major drawback and that is the tiny 128GB SSD.

Razer Blade Stealth 4K RZ09-01682E24-R3U1 12.5-inch

Razer Blade Stealth 4K RZ09-01682E24-R3U1 12.5-inch laptop
Razer has long been known for their gaming hardware that is used the world over by professional E-sport superstars. The Blade 14-inch and Pro range cater for gamers on the go, but the new Razer Blade Stealth is an elegant ultrabook that features a sleek design and powerful hardware. Sporting a Skylake Intel i7-6500U processor and 8GB of LPDDR3 RAM, the Stealth has more than enough power to deal with day-to-day tasks and can run a host of apps without stuttering. The Stealth 4K RZ09-01682E24-R3U1 features a smaller 256GB solid state drive that offers lightning speeds while loading apps or booting from hibernation, but the smaller SSD will be a limiting factor as newer gaming titles increase in size. Razer offers the Stealth with two different display configurations, a QHD version and a 4K version. The 4K version caters to the design and illustration crowd with an impressive 100% Adobe RGB color spectrum coverage. While Razer are known for their gaming laptops which sport NVIDIA graphics, the Stealth only comes equipped with the integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 that is offered by the Skylake processor. While the Intel graphics chip will run older titles on higher graphics settings, it will struggle to offer frame rates over 30fps with modern gaming titles. But Razer has a solution, while developing the new Blade Stealth ultrabook, the designers created the Razer Core, an external GPU or more commonly known as a graphics amplifier. Connecting via super fast Thunderbolt 3 (USB Type-C) the Razer Core allows users to run any AMD or NVIDIA desktop card and brings a rich gaming experience to the Stealth ultrabook. But this makes the gaming experience less mobile due to the size of the Razer Core and a design oversight means that the Stealth cannot be charged while connected to the Core, as the USB Type-C serves as both the charging port and as a data transfer port.

Best 17-inch Razer Blade Laptops

Razer Blade Pro V2 RZ09-01663E53-R3U1 17.3-inch

Razer Blade Pro V2 RZ09-01663E53-R3U1 17.3-inch
Razer re-released the Razer Pro and while it had a huge price tag it seemed to run the same Skylake processor as its cheaper 14-inch brother. However, Razer have addressed this issue with the Razer Blade Pro RZ09-01663E53-R3U1, which now features a much faster Kaby Lake processor. It still retains its NVIDIA GTX 1080 laptop edition graphics card and we can’t really expect an SLI version as this laptop is just too thin to cram a second GTX 1080. Needless to say you will easily be able to play any game currently on the market on ultra-settings and with a 4K resolution. This card runs circles around its predecessor and will allow you to play future AAA gaming titles for some time to come. The Razer Blade Pro RZ09-01663E53-R3U1 has been updated and now features an overclockable Kaby Lake-based Intel Core i7-7820HK processor. This will allow you to push the processor from its 2.9GHz base clock speed to an impressive 4.3GHz overclocked speed. It still includes a massive amount of DDR4 RAM – 32GB to be precise, however, Razer have now gone for a 2667MHz RAM which should increase performance slightly for gaming and rendering multimedia files. You get a total of 1TB of storage space, which is organized in RAID 0 with two superfast 512GB M.2 solid state drives. You can upgrade to a massive 2TB of storage yourself at home with two 1TB M.2 SSDs, however this is not necessary as it isn’t cheap. The Razer Blade Pro RZ09-01663E53-R3U1 is the world’s first THX certified mobile device, and this will mean an immersive visual and audio experience unlike any other laptop.
