Welcome to our guide to the best VR-Ready laptops and high-end gaming laptops based on raw hardware performance, critic and user reviews, design and general pure gaming pedigree.

Getting one of these epic gaming rigs will ensure everybody knows you mean serious business. They offer extremely competitive hardware and high framerates for modern titles featuring the latest Intel and AMD processors, a healthy amount of RAM and high-end graphics enough to rival even desktop gaming performance. More than that, many of these offer enough hardware power to function as a 4k gaming laptop on higher resolutions as well as the extremely high-performance demands of VR headsets such as the HTC Vive and Oculus Rift. Most experts recommend a minimum of a GTX 980M or GTX 1070 to be able to experience playable frame rates for the current bread of VR games. Keep in mind, however, that for these power hungry beasts battery longevity and mobility may not be their strongest suites. Large 17-inch displays are generally preferable but there are also smaller display options which offer portability at the cost of trimmed down feature sets. Serious gamers who want an uncompromising gaming experience for the foreseeable future should be prepared to battle it out here for their top choice.

Razer Blade RZ09-01953E71-R3U1 14-inchRazer Blade RZ09-01953E71-R3U1 14-inch

Razer have been creating top of the range gaming peripherals for a number of years now, and their range of gaming laptops share the company’s gaming pedigree. The new Razer Blade RZ09-01953E71-R3U1 has been updated and now sports a more powerful Kaby Lake processor which will allow you to run any current game on the market. The Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor boasts a performance increase of 9% over the last generation i7-6700HQ which will come in handy while working in more intensive applications. You also get 16GB of DDR4 2133MHz RAM which will allow you to easily run most applications and is more than enough memory for any current gaming title. You can look at upgrading to a higher frequency RAM kit, however this is not necessary for most users who will do just fine with the installed RAM modules. Keeping to its gaming pedigree, the Razer Blade RZ09-01953E71-R3U1 features the NVIDIA GTX 1060 laptop edition GPU with 6GB of dedicated GDDR5 video memory. This graphics card will easily run the latest gaming titles on ultra or high settings while still offering you decent frame rates. Titles such as Battlefield 1, GTA V and Titanfall 2 will run great on this machine, however the smaller M.2 SSD will mean that you will have to be selective about what games you can install on this laptop. With just 256GB of storage space, this superfast SSD will fill up almost instantly with games that are 50GB or larger. You can purchase a larger M.2 SSD for a fraction of the price of the larger models from Razer, however make sure that you have the know how before you undertake this upgrade yourself. While the Razer Blade is a small and compact gaming laptop it does come with a bit of a drawback, the thinner size means that it will heat up quicker while gaming or while using slightly more intensive applications. This in turn will kick the two fans into gear which might annoy some users who are looking for a quieter setup. Another drawback of the smaller form factor is the fact that the 14-inch display is not great for gaming, we recommend connecting the Razer Blade RZ09-01953E71-R3U1 to a monitor for a superior gaming experience.

  • 14 inch, 1920 x 1080 pixels (IPS)

When it comes to high-end gaming laptops, there are only a few names that are worth considering and ASUS is one of them. Their Republic Of Gamers (ROG) laptops have always been some of the most sought after laptops when it comes to serious gamers. One of their latest offerings is the new ASUS ROG GL502VS-DB71 and like many of their products, it does not disappoint. While it is not the thinnest or lightest laptop, it is well below the industry standard when it comes to 15.6-inch gaming laptops. Powering this beast is a Skylake based Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor and 16GB of DDR4 2133MHz RAM, which combined will easily offer lag free gaming and enough power for designers and video editors. ASUS have jumped on board with the new 10-series range of NVIDIA graphics cards and the ASUS ROG GL502VS-DB71 features the GeForce GTX 1070 laptop edition. The GTX 1070 outperforms its predecessor and its performance is on par with the GTX 980M. The new Pascal architecture offers superior performance when it comes to VR gaming and will make the ASUS ROG GL502VS-DB71 more future proof as some of the other ROG laptops. To store all of your games and multimedia files, the ASUS ROG GL502VS-DB71 comes with both a 1TB 7200rpm mechanical hard drive and a superfast 256GB M.2 solid state drive. But with games ever increasing in size, you will have to choose which games you want to install on the SSD. The 15.6-inch Full-HD display offers wide viewing angles and rich colors thanks to its In-plane switching technology. You also get G-SYNC which allows the display to synchronize its refresh rate with the GTX 1070’s rendering rate.

Alienware is one of the most well-known brands when it comes to gaming PCs, and their laptops generally feature killer hardware specs and are more than powerful enough to handle any game that is thrown their way. The Alienware AW17R4-7352SLV-PUS is an insanely powerful gaming laptop that has a price to match. Its brilliant display is backed up by a powerful NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 and will allow you to enjoy any of the 2017 games that are currently on the market. This GPU will also give you the very best experience if you intend on using a VR headset. The GTX 1080 will also come in handy if you are an animator or a video editor as it will offer far superior rendering speeds compared to its GTX 1050 and GTX 1060 siblings. If this isn’t enough for you, then you could always purchase the Alienware Graphics Amplifier and a desktop grade GTX 1080 Ti. Though this is not necessary and is merely a lavish luxury. ASUS ROG Zephyrus GX501VI-XS74 15.6-inchASUS ROG Zephyrus GX501VI-XS74 15.6-inch

We all know of the mammoth ASUS ROG laptops that have been on sale for a number of years now. However, times are changing at ASUS and the new ROG Zephyrus range is far from what the ROG range used to be. You now get a powerful gaming laptop that is a mere 0.7 inches thin and weighs in at a light 4.9 pounds. However, that is not all that ASUS have redesigned, they have also made major changes to the keyboard and the trackpad. While this might scare off some users, this new layout is far better for gaming than traditional layouts. This new layout better simulates gaming on a desktop PC and you will no longer bump the trackpad while gaming like on traditional laptop layouts. The NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 GPU with 8GB of dedicated video memory will run any of the latest gaming titles on the highest settings. The GPU will even allow you to use this ROG as a 4K gaming laptop and play games on a connected 4K monitor. However, the 15.6-inch display of the ROG Zephyrus GX501 offers great image quality and boasts an impressive 120Hz refresh rate, which is rare for most laptops. Not only do you get a higher refresh rate, the display also offers NVIDIA G-SYNC which allows the graphics card to synchronize its frame rates with that of the display. Not only do you get the most powerful mobile GTX 10-series GPU, you also get a powerful Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor and 16GB of DDR4 2400MHz RAM. This combination will not only allow you to play your favorite games, but will also allow you to run even more demanding applications on the ROG Zephyrus GX501. However, all this power has been crammed into a very thin laptop and while ASUS have promised that its cooling system will handle the heat, some users have commented that it does heat up quickly while gaming.

Razer Blade Pro V2 RZ09-01663E53-R3U1 17.3-inchRazer Blade Pro V2 RZ09-01663E53-R3U1 17.3-inch

Razer re-released the Razer Pro and while it had a huge price tag it seemed to run the same Skylake processor as its cheaper 14-inch brother. However, Razer have addressed this issue with the Razer Blade Pro RZ09-01663E53-R3U1, which now features a much faster Kaby Lake processor. It still retains its NVIDIA GTX 1080 laptop edition graphics card and we can’t really expect an SLI version as this laptop is just too thin to cram a second GTX 1080. Needless to say you will easily be able to play any game currently on the market on ultra-settings and with a 4K resolution. This card runs circles around its predecessor and will allow you to play future AAA gaming titles for some time to come. The Razer Blade Pro RZ09-01663E53-R3U1 has been updated and now features an overclockable Kaby Lake-based Intel Core i7-7820HK processor. This will allow you to push the processor from its 2.9GHz base clock speed to an impressive 4.3GHz overclocked speed. It still includes a massive amount of DDR4 RAM – 32GB to be precise, however, Razer have now gone for a 2667MHz RAM which should increase performance slightly for gaming and rendering multimedia files. You get a total of 1TB of storage space, which is organized in RAID 0 with two superfast 512GB M.2 solid state drives. You can upgrade to a massive 2TB of storage yourself at home with two 1TB M.2 SSDs, however this is not necessary as it isn’t cheap. The Razer Blade Pro RZ09-01663E53-R3U1 is the world’s first THX certified mobile device, and this will mean an immersive visual and audio experience unlike any other laptop. The 4K Ultra-HD display offers rich and vibrant colors and with 100% AdobeRGB color gamut coverage, the Razer Blade Pro RZ09-01663E53-R3U1 is also great for designers. It also features NVIDIA’s G-SYNC technology, which synchronizes the display’s frame rates with that of the graphics card for a superior gaming experience. Razer have also created the thinnest mechanical keyboard known to the world of laptop gaming. Not only do you get a thin mechanical keyboard, you also get Razer’s Chroma mood lighting technology. This individually backlit keyboard allows you to choose from 16.8 million colors and allows you to set various zones and lighting effects. Following in its predecessor’s footsteps, the Razer Blade Pro’s trackpad is on the right of the keyboard and can easily be customized and even features a scroll wheel.

  • 17.3 inch, 3840 x 2160 pixels (IPS)
  • Windows 10 Home

  • Mechanical keyboard

Summary

The Razer Blade Pro RZ09-01663E53-R3U1 is an ultra-powerful gaming laptop for the hardcore gamer on the go. However, its huge price tag puts it out of reach for many gamers and its battery life is rather poor for gaming on the go.

Best High-End Gaming Laptops – Top Picks

Razer Blade RZ09-01953E72-R3U1 14-inchRazer Blade RZ09-01953E72-R3U1 14-inch

The Razer Blade has been CNC milled out of high-grade aluminum to offer you a thin and light laptop that has been filled with some great gaming hardware. Razer have done away with the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M from their last generation Razer Blade and have gone for the newer and more powerful NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 laptop edition GPU. The newer GTX 1060 is based off of NVIDIA’s Pascal architecture and with 6GB of GDDR5, it offers far better graphics performance than the older GTX 970M. While VR gaming is still in a development phase for most of us, the GTX 1060 has been designed to perform far better than the GTX 900-series cards, giving it an advantage for future gaming experiences. However, if you really want to push the performance, then you can connect the Razer Core external GPU enclosure via the superfast USB 3.1 Type-C port. However the Razer Core and a faster desktop grade GPU will push up the price dramatically. Being a premium gaming laptop, it features the latest 7th generation Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor, which will make light work of most games or intensive apps. The newer i7-7700HQ boasts a performance increase of 9% over its predecessor, giving it the edge when it comes to more demanding applications. Backing up the Core i7-6700HQ processor is 16GB of DDR4 2133MHz RAM, which combined will allow for lag free gaming or intensive multitasking. While all this hardware is quite powerful, the thin design means that it can heat up quickly, causing the fans to run most of the time. This might put off some users who are looking for a quieter machine for everyday use. While there is a 1TB version of the Razer Blade, the Razer Blade RZ09-01953E72-R3U1 features a decently sized 512GB SSD, which helps bring down the cost by a few hundred dollars. This will give you enough space to install some of your favorite AAA gaming titles, however some recent titles require over 50GB and will fill up your SSD quite quickly. Like the previous range, you get Razer Chroma which is Razer’s individually lit backlit keyboard. This will allow you to set three different color zones so that you can truly customize your Razer Blade. The brilliant 14-inch 1920 x 1080 pixel multi-touch display offers rich colors, wide viewing angles and is great for gaming or for media editing on the go. However, the display is a bit small for hardcore gamers, we recommend connecting the Razer Blade RZ09-01953E72-R3U1 to a decent size monitor for the best gaming experience.

  • 14 inch, 1920 x 1080 pixels (IPS)

With such an expensive price tag attached, you would certainly expect as much. Weighing in at 10.6 pounds, the brushed metal body MSI GT73VR Titan SLI-058 is not very portable, and everything about the sleek black and red design screams gaming. The 1920×1080 17.3-inch anti-glare IPS display has a 120Hz refresh rate and a wide viewing angle, and many have commented on how spectacular the screen quality is. It comes with an SSD and HDD combo, with the Super RAID 4 SSD coming with 512GB of space, and the 7200RPM HDD a generous 1TB. Thanks to its crazy hardware specs, it should run most modern games at 4k comfortably, and it is VR-Ready, with reviewers noting that it runs VR applications with ease. It comes with Thunderbolt 3 (Type-C) for ultra fast data transfers of up to 400Gbps as well as allowing you to connect a 4K monitor. The keyboard’s LED backlite is customizable and the touchpad is said to be responsive. Velocity Micro Raptor MX50 15.6-inchVelocity Micro Raptor MX50 15.6-inch

Velocity Micro might not be a brand that all of us are familiar with, but they have been in business for over 20 years and offer custom built laptops with top-end hardware and superior workmanship compared to their mass products rivals. Their laptops come fitted with premium parts as they don’t believe in offering the cheaper OEM parts found in most competitors which gives them a major edge over competing gaming laptops. After all, there’s nothing like being let down by a $35 OEM Wi-Fi card after forking out $1500 for a brand new gaming laptop. Their superior craftsmanship and customizable builds are designed for gamers who know exactly what they want from their laptop and the Velocity Micro Raptor MX50 can be customized to spec. The base model features a fast Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor, 8GB of DDR4 2133MHz and a fast 275GB Crucial MX300 M.2 SSD. While the processor is fixed, both the RAM and storage can be customized and you can even add a second SSD or a large 2TB 5400rpm storage drive. While we would have liked to have seen a more powerful GPU, the Velocity Micro Raptor MX50’s NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 will still allow you to play the latest games, although newer and upcoming 2017 titles will have to be run on medium settings in order to retain good frame rates. While the GTX 1050 will struggle with true VR gaming and is not as future proof as other GPUs, the MX50 offers a more personalized and reliable gaming experience than it’s rivals.

Velocity Micro Raptor MX40 14-inchVelocity Micro Raptor MX40 14-inch

While most gaming laptops on the market today come from the Far East, the Velocity Micro Raptor MX40 is another fine example of Velocity Micros keen eye for detail and their dedication to using premium hardware. Its smaller size makes it compact enough to take with while travelling and can easily be used by college students who require a more powerful laptop for assignments. The Velocity Micro Raptor MX40 features an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti from EVGA and is backed up by 4GB of GDDR5 video memory. This will easily allow you to run any current 2017 games on playable framerates and offers a boost in performance over the standard GTX 1050, though if you were hoping to play the very latest and greatest games on the highest possible settings, then you might want to consider a laptop with the more powerful NVIDIA GPU. If medium to high settings are fine for your gaming experience, then the Velocity Micro Raptor MX40 will not leave you disappointed and comes in a stylish and compact design to boot. One small drawback with the Velocity Micro Raptor MX40 is that the base model features a much slower 5400rpm hard drive. This can be replaced with a lightning fast SSD or an SSD and HDD combo if you can spend the extra money and want to customize it. As Velocity Micro is dedicated to offering great gaming hardware, they have also made sure that their systems come with no unwanted bloatware, this means that you can get straight to installing your favorite games instead of having to rid your new system of unnecessary applications.

The Alienware AW17R4-7345SLV-PUS joins another a long line of dedicated gaming laptops and looks and feels every bit as high-end as we would expect. Even the LED lighting system is a bold statement of its gaming pedigree. You get a powerful NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 GPU to run any current AAA gaming title on the market. Compared to its predecessor the GTX 970M, the newer GTX 1070 offers higher frame rates, smoother performance and a better VR experience. This card will also run some of the top titles for some time to come, which gives some peace of mind for the future. Powering the Alienware AW17R4-7345SLV-PUS is a Kaby Lake Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor and 16GB of DDR4 2400MHz RAM, which can be upgraded to a maximum of 32GB. You will also be able to run the higher frequency 2666MHz, however due to the higher price tag this is not necessary. One of the bigger drawbacks is the fact that the Alienware AW17R4-7345SLV-PUS only ships with a 1TB mechanical HDD. It might be the fast 7200rpm drive favored by gamers, however for the price we expected at least a small 128GB or 256GB solid state drive. Luckily the Alienware AW17R4-7345SLV-PUS does feature an empty M.2 slot which supports a wide range of super fast SSDs that are currently on the market. We recommend the Samsung 960 EVO 500GB as it offers great performance, while still being easy on your wallet. One of the great design features of the Alienware AW17R4-7345SLV-PUS is the placement of some of its ports. While most gaming laptops feature the display ports, LAN port and charging port on the sides like conventional laptops, the Alienware AW17R4-7345SLV-PUS has these all at the back of the laptop. This offers a cleaner look while using the display ports for larger gaming monitors or plugging in a LAN cable. It also features both a Thunderbolt 3 and Alienware Graphics Amplifier port at the back of the laptop so that you can make use of more powerful desktop based GPUs in an external GPU dock.

The Alienware AW17R4-7345SLV-PUS offers great performance for hardcore gamers, however the mechanical HDD is this laptops Achilles heel and you should consider upgrading this laptop with an M.2 SSD.

MSI GT62VR Dominator Pro-238 15.6-inchMSI GT62VR Dominator Pro-238 15.6-inch

One of the first new laptops from MSI for 2017 is their MSI GT62VR Dominator Pro-238. This new edition sports a new Kaby Lake processor from Intel and one of NVIDIA’s 10-series graphics card for even better gaming performance over last year’s models. The new Dominator Pro for 2017 now features the new NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 and offers far better performance than its predecessor. This will make all the difference when it comes to those AAA gaming titles. The Pascal architecture has been developed for the next generation of VR gaming and will give you the edge over laptops running the older GTX 970M graphics card. A seventh generation Intel Core i7-7700HQ and 16GB of DDR4 RAM will allow you to run the latest AAA gaming titles with no lag and will even run hardware intensive design apps. You can easily upgrade the RAM to a mammoth 32GB or to a higher frequency RAM. The 1TB mechanical hard drive offers ample storage space for older games and multimedia files and the 256GB SSD takes care of those AAA gaming titles that need that extra performance. However, even at double the SSD storage space of some of its competitors, this SSD will fill up extremely quickly as the size of games has increased over the years. Titles such as Battlefield 1, Titanfall 2 and GTA V take up over 40GB each so you might want to consider a larger solid state drive. The superfast M.2 solid state drive can easily be replaced with a Samsung 960 EVO 500GB SSD or if your budget allows, the Samsung 960 Pro 1TB SSD. Like most of the higher-end MSI laptops, you get a Full-HD display. But despite the lack of a 4K display, you still get a display that offers rich colors and great viewing angles. The display also features G-SYNC which matches the display panel’s refresh rate to the frame rate of the graphics card for an impressive gaming experience.

  • 15.6 inch, 1920 x 1080 pixels (IPS)
  • Windows 10 Home
  • 4.25 hours battery life
  • 6.48 lbs

Pros

  • GTX 1070 graphics
  • M.2 SSD + 7200rpm HDD
  • Kaby Lake-based processor
  • Full-HD display with G-SYNC

Cons

  • Battery life
  • Bulky
  • No 4K display
  • Average sized SSD
  • No optical drive

Summary

The MSI GT62VR Dominator Pro-238 offers the latest hardware for the hardcore gamer, however the smaller 256GB SSD will fill up quite quickly with the latest AAA gaming titles.

  • Windows 10 Home
  • 4.75 hours battery life
  • 4.10 lbs

Pros

  • Kaby Lake i7 processor
  • Thin and light

  • NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060
  • USB Type-C

Cons

  • Heats up under load
  • Smaller SSD
  • Fans run most of the time
  • No Ethernet or optical drive
  • Expensive

Summary

The Razer Blade RZ09-01953E71-R3U1 is a small gaming laptop that is packed with great hardware, however, the 256GB SSD is too small for users with larger Origin or Steam collections.

A high-end 6th generation Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor and 16GB of DDR4 2133 MHz RAM power the MSI GE72VR Apache Pro-009 and allow for effortless multitasking and lag free gaming. To make the MSI GE72VR Apache Pro-009 more future proof, MSI have gone with a next generation graphics card, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060. The GTX 1060 offers notably more processing power than its predecessor and you can expect to play Overwatch on ultra settings with a frame rate over 100 fps. To ensure that the graphics look crisp and clear, the MSI GE72VR Apache Pro-009 features a large 17.3-inch Full-HD IPS display. The M.2 SSD allows the laptop to boot up in seconds and offers lightning fast performance while gaming. But with the size of games such as The Witcher and Battlefield 4, you will have to be selective which games you will install on your SSD. But like all gaming laptops, the battery life is poor meaning the MSI GE72VR Apache Pro-009 is more suited as being a desktop replacement.

Alienware-AW15R2-6161SLV-15.6

Alienware AW15R2-6161SLV 15.6-Inch

The Alienware’s AW15R2-6161SLV combines powerful hardware with a premium design for a reasonable price. The chassis is constructed from carbon fibre and aluminum, which is designed not only to look premium but also to stand the test of time. Due to a number of LEDs on the surface, an attractive backlit keyboard and a glowing touchpad, it looks like it might have come from another planet. Though slimmer than its 17 and 18-inch brothers, it is fairly heavy at 3kg (6.6 pounds), and you’ll certainly notice its presence while carrying it in your backpack. Part of the reason why it manages to look classy despite its relatively low price is because it includes a Full-HD matte screen as opposed to an Ultra-HD display and a 970M graphics instead of the top-of-the-line 980M GPU. This 970M graphics working with the onboard Intel Core i7-6700HQ and 16GB of RAM will let you play majority of today’s game without a stutter. It is slightly more expensive than the 17-inch ASUS ROG G751JT-CH71 but it’s more portable and it includes 128 GB of extra SSD storage, as well as a futuristic design which many gamers may find more appealing. If you are okay with a more modest design, take a look at the MSI above which costs $200 less but packs similar hardware. Overall, the AW15R2-6161SLV is pricier than its competitors but not by a large margin, and its premium design is well worth the investment for dedicated gamers.

MSI GS63VR Stealth Pro-002 15.6-inchMSI GS63VR Stealth Pro-002 15.6-inch

When spending over $2000 you would expect to get a seriously powerful and impressive laptop. Even more so when you are buying a laptop for gaming purposes. The MSI GS63VR Stealth Pro-002 enters the ring swinging with its impressive display. While most laptops feature 60MHz displays, the MSI GS63VR Stealth Pro-002 features a much more impressive 120MHz display with a fairly impressive 3ms response time. It also boasts an impressive 94% NTSC color coverage, which equates to about 100% coverage of the AdobeRGB color space. This makes the MSI GS63VR Stealth Pro-002 great for both gamers and creatives who need a brilliant display for editing and design work. To make sure that you can play all of the latest AAA games on the market, the Stealth Pro comes with a dedicated NVIDIA GTX 1070 with 8GB of GDDR5 video memory. While it might not be the powerful GTX 1080, the GTX 1070 can still handle its own and features improved performance over the widely used GTX 1060. This GPU will also handle VR gaming with both the HTC Vive and the Oculus Rift. The MSI GS63VR Stealth Pro-002 is run by a seventh generation Intel Core i7-7700HQ CPU and 32GB of DDR4 2400MHz RAM, meaning it will easily handle any game that you can throw at it. It will even perform lag free while you record game footage for your YouTube channel. A minor drawback of the MSI GS63VR Stealth Pro-002 is that the 1TB hard drive is a slower 5400rpm drive and we would recommend swapping it out for something a bit faster.

MSI GS63VR STEALTH PRO-229 15.6-inchMSI GS63VR STEALTH PRO-229 15.6-inch

While many of MSI’s laptops are quite bulky, the Stealth range is thin and light. This makes a refreshing change for the gamer who doesn’t want a heavy and bulky laptop as an everyday carry. The build quality is great and the aggressive design complements its gaming pedigree under its hood. Not only does this MSI laptop look great, it also weighs in at a light 3.96 lbs and is 0.69-inches thick, which is not bad for a gaming laptop. However, one thing on the design that might annoy some users is the placement of the power button, and you should change your power settings to prevent your laptop from going to sleep when you accidently bump the button. Sporting the latest generation Kaby Lake Intel Core i7-7700HQ processor and a healthy 32GB of DDR4 RAM, the MSI GS63VR STEALTH PRO will run any current game with ease. To ensure that your games look amazing in the graphics department, MSI have fitted the GS63VR STEALTH PRO with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card with 6GB of GDDR5 video memory. The GTX 1060 will allow you to run almost every game on ultra settings at 1080p with a frame rate of over 30fps. However there are some games that will push this card to the limit and we recommend setting your settings slightly lower to prevent your frame rate from dropping too low. The Full-HD display offers vibrant colors and the viewing angles are pretty wide thanks to the IPS technology. Storage wise, MSI have fitted the MSI GS63VR STEALTH PRO with both a 1TB mechanical hard drive and superfast M.2 512GB SSD. The SSD will give you the edge you need and will save you precious seconds when loading into games. Another nice touch is the fact that the MSI GS63VR STEALTH PRO comes with Windows 10 Professional instead of Windows 10 Home, unlocking more of the features of Windows 10.

If you are a serious gamer with a big budget, then the ASUS ROG G752VS-XB72K OC Edition is well worth looking at. Its aggressive looks are backed up by some very powerful hardware. Powered by a 6th generation Intel Core i7-6820HK processor and 32GB of DDR4 RAM, the ASUS ROG G752VS-XB72K OC Edition will have no issue running the latest games or hardware intensive design apps. The benefit of the i7-6820HK is that it has an unlocked multiplier, which will allow you to easily overclock the processor. While many gaming laptops are still offering the GTX 980M, the ASUS ROG G752VS-XB72K OC Edition comes with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 with 8GB of video memory. The GTX 1070 offers 10-15% better performance than its predecessors and this is very noticeable with the frame rates that it can achieve. It scored 13916 on 3DMark’s Fire Strike graphics test, unseating the previous contender the Origin Eon17 SLX by almost 2000 points. To store all of your games and multimedia files, ASUS has installed both a 256GB solid state drive and a 1TB 7200rpm mechanical hard drive. But with the size of modern games, you will easily fill the SSD in no time. The Full-HD 17.3-inch display offers G-SYNC and while it is not a 4K display, it offers sharp image quality and vivid colors. The ASUS ROG G752VS-XB72K OC Edition is also VR ready, making it slightly more future proof than some of its competitors. Razer have been on the gaming scene for a number of years and their products are synonymous with high-end gaming. But being a new player on the laptop market, Razer has had to prove themselves. Like its predecessor the new 2016 Blade is a premium gaming laptop that offers a 6th generation Intel Core i7-6700HQ processor, 16GB of DDR4 RAM and an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970M with 6GB of video memory. When Razer launched the New Razer Blade, it was initially only available with 256GB of storage, but Razer have now released the 512GB version for gamers and multimedia editors who require more than 256GB of storage space. Acer Predator 17 X GX-791-73FH 17.3-inchAcer Predator 17 X GX-791-73FH 17.3-inch

The Predator range of laptops are among the top gaming laptops on the market today. With aggressive gaming looks and extremely powerful hardware, the Predator 17 X GX-791-73FH is designed for the hardcore gamer on the go. While many high-end gaming laptops use the mobile NVIDIA GTX GPUs, the Predator 17 X GX-791-73FH features a desktop grade GTX 980 that offers better performance than its mobile counterpart. While it may be a desktop GPU, it has been modified to allow it to be more power efficient and this has somewhat nerfed its potential performance. While it is not a deal breaker, this does mean that you can expect slightly lower frame rates compared to the same card in a desktop PC. However you will easily and effortlessly be able to enjoy your favorite games such as Overwatch, Battlefield 1 and The Witcher on ultra settings. Powering this behemoth of a laptop is a Skylake-based Intel Core i7-6820HK unlocked processor and a massive 32GB of DDR4 2133MHz of RAM. The processor has an unlocked multiplier and can easily be overclocked, which gives it a massive advantage of the standard i7-6700HQ that is commonly found in most high-end gaming laptops. Despite its effective cooling system, you should proceed with caution when overclocking your CPU. All your storage needs are taken care of by the 1TB 7200rpm mechanical drive and the superfast 512GB solid state drive configured in RAID 0. The SSD will allow you to easily install most of your games, but with the size of newer games you can consider replacing the SATA drive with a 1TB SSD to ensure that all of your games run at peak performance.

ASUS ROG G752VY-DH78K

ASUS ROG G752VY-DH78K 17.3-inch

The ASUS G752VY-DH78K is one of ASUS’s top of the line gaming laptops that combines space age looks with powerful hardware. Boasting a Skylake Intel Core i7-6820HK processor which is backed by a massive 64GB of DDR4 RAM and a top of the line NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980M, the G752VY will run any modern gaming title on its highest settings. The Intel Core i7-6820HK has a lower clock speed than the i7-6700HQ, but with its unlocked multiplier it is easier to overclock and can be overclocked to a higher frequency. To make sure that there is enough space for modern games and to make sure those games load insanely fast the G752VY come standard with two 256GB SSD’s and a 1TB 7200rpm SATA III hard drive. The two SSD’s can be upgraded to two Samsung 950 Pro NVMe SSD’s, but this will add $660 to the already hefty price tag. The Full-HD display offers rich colors, wide viewing angles and G-Sync, but only has a maximum resolution of 1920×1080. Reviews have praised the G752VY for its low temperatures and low fan noise levels thanks to its cleverly designed cooling system. It also comes with a Dust-release thermal solution, which is meant to prevent dust from building up on the internal components. The battery life is rather poor and no real improvements have been made from its predecessor, but the ASUS G752VY-DH78K larger size makes it a perfect desktop replacement.
