Cities: Skylines Mass Transit Expansion Release Date Revealed

For those of you that are fans of the simulation city builder games, chances are you are already playing, or at least you have heard of Cities: Skylines. The new Cities: Skylines Mass Transit expansion has been in the works for some time but until now we had no idea when it would be released.

On May 18, the popular city building game will receive its new Mass Transit expansion, bringing with it a variety of new modes of transportation. These include monorails, cable-cars, ferries and even blimps. On top of that, there will be new types of landmarks, roads and massive transport hubs to give you many more options at building the perfect transit system for your cities residents.

“New road types, bridges and canals adds  variety to your city, and new ways to solve its challenges,” says publisher Paradox. “Become an expert in traffic flow, and then use that knowledge to improve your city.”

This new update will let you become an expert in traffic flow, something so many of us struggle with when playing these city building simulations.

With just one look at these trailers, I’m guessing you will want to fire this game up and play it again or maybe buy it and play it for the first time if you haven’t yet. In many ways, Cities: Skylines is the city builder game that the fans of SimCity wanted all along. When SimCity was released, it is safe to say it was a huge disappointment to many despite offering impressive graphics and new features and cooperation.

The online requirements and constant downtime soured many on the series. On top of that, the lot sizes were just too small and, frankly, the game was a shadow of what SimCity 4 was like. Then along came Cities: Skylines. As it turns out, this game was much more in line with what people wanted. In fact, as of March, the game has sold 3.5 million copies, making it a huge success for Paradox. I think we can all agree that it has managed to destroy SimCity.

If you have been a long time player of Cities: Skylines but you are looking for a new challenge, this long awaited expansion could be perfect for you. Do you have what it takes to become a master of transportation? Or will your efforts end in gridlock in your city? On May 18, you can find out for yourself.

Do you love Cities: Skylines and do you plan on buying this expansion? If so, tell us about your experience with the city builder game and what your thoughts are on this game versus SimCity. We would love to hear what you think about it. Just sound off in the comments below and let us know.
